Wimbledon epitomises British summertime at its best. Die-hard fans on Murray Mound, strawberries and cream, picnics, showers stopping play, and the occasional tantrum from a tennis player or two.
Now, ETM venues are offering a taste of this year’s tournament with limited edition menu items at selected venues, available from 23 June to 6 July.
New balls please!
Head chef of One Canada Square restaurant and bar in Canary Wharf, Jamie Dobbin, has aced the ultimate dessert with his Strawberry and Lemon Balm Tennis Ball (£6.50).
Looking like it has just bounced straight off the court, the tempered white chocolate sphere is filled with sunshine flavours: zesty strawberry and lemon balm ice cream, strawberry jelly and strawberry sauce. It is then dipped in white chocolate and dusted with desiccated coconut and green tea.
The follow-through comes with the addition of a rich hot chocolate sauce served for pouring over the dessert at the table.
Grand Slam Summer Cup
Strawberries and cream are at the heart of Wimbledon feasting, making them the perfect inspiration for the Grand Slam Summer Cup cocktail (£9.50) again available at One Canada Square, Canary Wharf in addition to The Botanist on Sloane Square and Chiswell Street Dining Rooms in the City.
An icy cool concoction of Chase’s Summer Fruit Cup gin (using organic apples straight from their orchard in Hertfordshire), cranberry juice and strawberry puree – all topped off with a decadent dose of double cream and garnish of fresh strawberry wedges.
