Free WiFi for Chessington World of Adventures visitors

By James Russell: Free WiFi for Chessington World of Adventures visitors

June 4, 2014

Chessington World of Adventures Resort will be offering free WiFi to all visitors across the park, including in the Chessington Safari hotel and shortly in the new Azteca hotel, due to open in August.

The WiFi will give guests easy access to a range of online services including social media and the wider web. The partnership with WiFi provider The Cloud will offer a reliable internet connection throughout the resort, allowing people to upload photos and videos of their day, access resort information and ultimately make the most of their visit.

Use of smartphones

The family-focused resort made free WiFi a priority in response to the continued growth in both adults and children using smartphones, with the latest Ofcom figures stating almost half (43%) of children aged 5-15 own a mobile phone. Social media is a big part of this, particularly when visiting leisure venues like Chessington World of Adventures Resort, with Facebook stating more than 350 million photos are uploaded every day across the world.

Sharing experiences

“The goal for us is to provide memorable experiences to all of our guests,” commented Andrew Le Duc, Head of Consumer Marketing at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. “Working with The Cloud enables our guests to take advantage of mobile internet and social media to make the most of their day by planning out their adventure on the go and then sharing their experiences with friends and family as they happen.”

The WiFi roll-out began with the Chessington Safari Hotel and expanded to cover the theme park and will be available at the Chessington Azteca Hotel, due to open in August 2014. The phased roll-out means there is no impact on visitors to the resort as the WiFi service is installed.

Visitors expect to get online

“As consumers have become more mobile savvy, the likes of Chessington World of Adventures Resort have had to enhance the service they provide. Visitors expect to get online and it’s up to the venue to make sure that’s possible,” explains Vince Russell, Managing Director, The Cloud. “Our offering is designed to provide fast WiFi to visitors, but ultimately it’s about helping our partners deliver the experience they need to whilst bringing them closer to their customers by gaining a deeper understanding through data, analytics and surveys.”

The installation comes as part of a growing portfolio of venues with Merlin Entertainments Ltd, now including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, London Eye, LegoLand Discovery Centre Manchester and Madame Tussauds.
