Chili’s, the US restaurant chain, has now installed tablets at 823 outlets in the USA: the tablets enable customers both to order their food and drinks, and to pay their bills.

The Android tablets are mounted on stands supplied by Ziosk, and also enable guests to use the entertainment features as well as Facebook.

Having studied the menu on the tablet, placed their order and enjoyed their meal, customers can pay by credit card, scan in any special deal coupons to receive their discount, add a tip, and leave.

As soon as their payment has been processed, the tablet erases all the data input by the guest(s) at the table, and re-sets ready for the next guest. No need to wait for the waiter to bring and process the bill – or delete the data.

Chili’s is not the first in the USA to adopt this technology: we await reports on its introduction in the UK…
