TCG gears up for the World Cup

By James Russell: TCG gears up for the World Cup

May 12, 2014

Managed pub and bar group TCG is gearing up for this summer’s World Cup by rolling out the MatchPint listing service to all its venues showing sport.

The partnership will ensure that customers can check the matches being shown in TCG venues, which are promoting the tournament in Brazil as a Festival of Football.  As well as following England’s progress, fans will be able to enjoy the full programme of games featuring the world’s top players.

Ben Levick, TCG director of operations, said; “Our pubs and bars aim to be the best place in town to watch sport on TV. With this year’s Premier League title race going right up to the wire, and the World Cup on the way as part of a busy summer of sport ahead, we’re introducing MatchPint at a crucial time.”

Using MatchPint, the UK’s leading sports content management platform, TCG’s managers will be able to indicate which matches will be shown at their venue, from an online list – with the listings covering not only football, but the full programme of sport on TV. Drinks promotions linked to specific matches or tournaments can also be highlighted.

The details are uploaded to the MatchPint database and featured on its app and website. MatchPint will be fully integrated into TCG’s website and social media, and also allows pubs to print out posters to display upcoming events.

Not just football…

Dominic Collingwood, MatchPint director and CCO said: “During the World Cup, pubs and bars will be looking for ways to stand out from the competition as they try to attract customers for the big matches, and our new partnership means TCG pubs will be able to quickly and simply promote the games they’re showing across their websites and social media, as well as through the MatchPint app.

“The reaction from TCG’s managers has been fantastic and we look forward to working closely with them to save time and drive footfall, both for the World Cup and other future sporting events such as Wimbledon and a summer of test cricket against India.”
