In another sign of the growth and profile of the serviced apartment sector, STR Global is to partner with the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers, and has announced that it has expanded its data collection to include performance data for serviced apartments.
STR Global, the leading provider of global hotel data, will now take on the data-collection aspects of the association’s current serviced-apartment survey. ASAP, the key industry body representing the serviced-apartment sector in the United Kingdom and Ireland, has been collecting performance data, including occupancy, average daily rate and revenue per available room, for a number of years on a quarterly basis, focusing on London and Regional U.K.
Serviced apartments are an integral part of hospitality
Elizabeth Winkle, managing director of STR Global, said, “We are looking forward to growing our data collection in this segment. STR Global is interested in all aspects of the hospitality industry, and serviced apartments are an integral part of this industry. We are happy to be collecting and reporting data on this important and growing segment”.
Comprehensive, monthly reports
The partnership will allow for more comprehensive data collection and reports for the serviced-apartment sector, where current and historical data will be collected. It will allow operators to look at performance across a number of key cities in the U.K. and provide them with more actionable reports. The reports, previously distributed on a quarterly basis, will now be available to data providers on a monthly basis.
Greater industry recognition
“This is a pivotal period in the development of the serviced-apartment sector in the U.K., and I am delighted STR Global is able to support our objective of greater industry recognition”, said James Foice, managing director of ASAP. “Our membership base has grown by 35 percent over the last nine months, and this is a reflection of the interest and opportunity in this rapidly evolving industry. This partnership will provide legitimacy and gravitas to the data we have been collating and will further benefit the support we offer our members and the industry as a whole. We are very excited to be working with STR Global as we move into the next phase of this truly dynamic industry”.
