Having opened their first restaurant in Chinatown in 1965, PizzaExpress has just launched their 500th in the capital of China – their first restaurant in the city, though there are now 22 sites in China – in Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
The UK now has over 430 restaurants, whilst there is now also a strong global presence across 13 countries including India and the Middle East. These are key markets for the company: three of top 20 PizzaExpress restaurants in the world are in China.
PizzaExpress Beijing
Situated in a stunning new shopping centre – Taikoo Li shopping centre – in Sanlitun, in the Chaoyang district of Beijing, which is the most populous area in the City, the signature PizzaExpress design and feel is evident throughout the restaurant, with a focus on the black and white stripes. Local influences are also incorporated, from artwork celebrating the iconic Beijing bicycle to a traditional Chinese door God featuring pizzaiolos protecting the restaurant.
