MATCHPINT reaches Final of 2014 GSSS Competition

By James Russell: MATCHPINT reaches Final of 2014 GSSS Competition

May 9, 2014

MatchPint, the UK’s leading sports content management platform for pubs and bars – which allows consumers to locate pubs and bars showing specific fixtures in their area – has reached the final stage of this year’s Start-Up Pitch Competition, organised by international exhibition Global Sports Symposium (GSS).

MatchPint will pitch against three other businesses from around the globe in the final of the competition, which will take place on Thursday 15 May 2014 at the Emirates Stadium in London. This achievement demonstrates the potential for start-up companies within the UK’s hospitality industry to compete against other businesses in different sectors on an international scale.

Reinforcing success – one million users

Reaching the final of this competition reinforces the success enjoyed by MatchPint since its launch in September 2011.

MatchPint recently welcomed its one millionth unique user on the platform, and has also this year commenced partnerships with operators including Riley’s, Young’s and iNTERTAIN. Furthermore, during February and March 2014, Guinness also became MatchPint’s first branded sponsor, taking over the platform during the 2014 Six Nations and offering in-app promotions.

About MatchPint

MatchPint is the UK’s leading sports content management platform. Launched to consumers in 2012, it is an app and website that allows consumers to locate pubs and bars showing specific fixtures in their area. The app is available free from the iPhone app store and Google Play Store.

Operators utilise MatchPint by indicating which matches will be shown at their site, from an online list –  these are then uploaded to the MatchPint database where they can be located by customers looking for specific matches, or simply browsing to see what is being shown and where.

MatchPint can also be fully integrated into an operator’s website or social media accounts to provide useful, relevant content for those who interact with the brand online.

MatchPint is already being used by a host of prestigious operators including Fuller’s, Young’s, and Beds and Bars Group.
