Lancaster and Fleetwood MP Eric Ollerenshaw gave the Study Room top marks when he officially opened the Lancaster bar following a £450,000 investment. The Study Room opened on 25 April after a major joint investment of £450,000 between Punch Taverns and Mick Horan, Managing Director of Strawberry Enterprise Ltd.
The Study Room site, which stood empty for two years, has undergone substantial redevelopment over a six week period and now boasts a new look and fresh décor, which is certain to appeal to all visitors.
Stylish interiors
As well as the stylish interior design – which includes contemporary furnishings and feature bookcases- the bar also boasts a tantalising menu, with all of the dishes prepared by in-house chefs and ingredients sourced locally.
Eric Ollerenshaw MP was given a grand a tour of the premises by General Manager Tracey Hosker and then invited behind the bar to pull a pint. He commented:
“Bars, such as the Study Room, are an important part of our local community, with the creation of 20 local jobs and use of local businesses and suppliers.
“It is great to see this investment revitalise a site which had previously been closed and bring it back to life to appeal to all groups, students and families – which is a boost for the city and the local economy
“The Study Room captures the quirky charm and character of this city centre venue so brilliantly and has created a bar Lancaster can be proud of. I wish Tracey and the team every success.”
Great environment
Mick Horan, who developed the Study Room brand, said that it was important that the location of its first venue could bring something new and exciting for our customers: “I believe we have created a great environment for all and that is really paying off with the comments we have received from our customers,” he said.
“The food has really taken off, with our burgers and cocktails proving really popular. I think customers like the fact that provenance of products is extremely important to us and can support local business by using local suppliers for our food and drink.”
“We have had great support from the local residents in launching the bar and I hope that the Study Room can go from strength to strength from here.”
Punch Taverns’ Partnership Development Manager, Andy Stones adds: “We’re delighted to invest in sites such as this and it is one of our largest spends in Lancashire to date.
“The Study Room team have some great plans to deliver a fantastic customer experience and they have our full support. Considering its opening success, I expect this to continue and I look forward to working in partnership with Strawberry Enterprise Ltd going forward.”
