Harry Ramsden’s invests in Seaside Restaurants

By James Russell: Harry Ramsden’s invests in Seaside Restaurants

May 29, 2014

As summer approaches, Harry Ramsden’s is set to invest close to £2m to completely transform a number of its seaside restaurants.

Major refurbishment works are being undertaken at properties in Blackpool, Eastbourne and Great Yarmouth. This will bring them into line with the award winning new look unveiled last year in Bournemouth (pictured above and below), which has resulted in a sustained upsurge in sales and customer numbers at Harry Ramsden’s flagship restaurant.

A fast track programme of works in Great Yarmouth has just been completed with the new look restaurant and takeaway now open to the public. Eastbourne will close in early June, whilst in Blackpool the outlet is now closed for refurbishment but the robust programme of works will allow the takeaway outlet to reopen within 2 weeks. Both properties will be fully operational in time for the summer season.

The innovative and contemporary new look at each property pays homage to the brand’s maritime heritage, incorporating a sea of greens and blues, as well as smart black and white checked flooring, porthole mirrors, and vintage black and white prints of fishermen landing their catch.

Ongoing evolution

Joe Teixeira CEO of Harry Ramsden’s comments:

‘‘This is the latest stage in the ongoing evolution of Harry Ramsden’s, which has been serving its world famous fish and chips to generations of families for over 85 years. As we continue to develop the brand, we look forward to unveiling the new face of Harry Ramsden’s to both existing and a new generation of customers and attracting our share of the millions of day trippers and tourists, who visit these great seaside towns each summer. In addition, though, it is very much our intention to more firmly establish ourselves as part of the local communities in which we operate and I believe the investment in each of these seaside towns is the first step in realising that ambition.”
