C&C celebrate fantastic first quarter of new and completed projects

By James Russell: C&C celebrate fantastic first quarter of new and completed projects

May 15, 2014

C&C have completed work on some of the UK’s most prestigious projects in the last few months and are celebrating a series of new project wins in the first quarter of 2014.

Our recent projects have included a well known online retailer’s new London office accommodating 1600 staff;  the Nationwide Building Society’s and Savill’s HQ buildings with both projects spanning multiple floors and requiring careful delivery scheduling due to their central locations; Sunbury Court, the Salvation Army’s UK headquarters, where cost control was central to the project; Burberry HQ in London that followed on from a successful project completed for the same client last year in Paris and the Deutsche Bank’s new offices in Birmingham which will complete this month.

Fast track projects are always a challenge and the online retailer’s HQ building had an installation window of only 2 weeks for the bulk of the equipment. The central kitchen, coffee bars and servery areas included Corian worktops and tiled fascia panels all of which were completed on time and snag free, with the client reporting they were delighted with the finished product.

A further highlight was helping the Salvation Army re-use much of their existing equipment by extensive specialist refurbishment and modification of their legacy items. As an internationally renowned charity, the client was very keen to achieve maximum cost efficiencies and we worked closely with designers GWP and main contractor the Hutton Group to achieve this.

Other recent challenges included working with ISG on the Grade II listed warehouse buildings that are now home to Macmillan Publishing. The site’s stunning vaulted brick walls and ceilings proved a major obstacle to the accurate measurement and fitting of the bespoke fabrication work.

Another historic challenge was presented by the Mandarin Oriental’s famous Rosebury rooms. Also a listed site, they are renowned for their luxurious decor and quality of service. Working together with designers SHW, the basement kitchen had to be fitted while guests were staying at the hotel and so control of noise and other disturbances to guests was crucial. As with the Macmillan project, the listed building’s walls challenged the team’s fabrication and installation skills.

So what’s next? Project Director Paul Parry was delighted to announce this week that we have been awarded two very different new projects for the University of Liverpool. Paul commented; “These two projects are 250 miles apart with one under development in Liverpool and the other in the heart of London. They cover production facilities, student bars, food service areas and a Café at the Student’s Union buildings in Liverpool and the University’s latest International facility in London. We are delighted to have won both projects and to be working with the University.”
