Catering Academy contract win drives Healthcare Offering

By James Russell: Catering Academy contract win drives Healthcare Offering

May 9, 2014

National independent contract catering company, Catering Academy, has secured a five year healthcare contract, following a period of investment into this sector, by winning a competitive tender to provide two ‘Homes for Life’ contracts with Pembrokeshire Housing in Merlins Bridge and Steynton, delivering lunchtime meals to 100 residents across two schemes.

Communication with residents

Communication and involvement from the residents regarding changes and processes was a key driver for the team at Pembrokeshire Housing. Winning out over the competition, Catering Academy was successfully able to demonstrate its food service excellence paired with an understanding of the resident’s individual requirements.

To aid open communication, each resident has received a welcome pack containing a draft of the spring menu, a questionnaire, an annual calendar of events, flyers and a welcome letter.

As part of the brief, the team has introduced a three course lunch, a quality coffee service and a comprehensive suite of activities, which include the ‘Pudding Club’ and ‘Nutrition and Hydration Week’ themed events.

Building its healthcare offering

As part of its ongoing commitment to delivering excellence, Catering Academy has recently appointed a General Manager for healthcare, whose responsibility will be to work with the senior management team to drive growth in this area.

Louise Wymer, Founder Director at Catering Academy, said: “We’ve significantly built upon our presence within the healthcare sector over the last 12 months, investing in training, our service offer and the team structure.  By empowering our teams to make informed decisions about day to day nutrition and hydration we are able to further enhance the quality of our service.

“We’re delighted to have been appointed by Pembrokeshire Housing as a result of this investment and look forward to working with the team and residents to create a focused, bespoke, responsive and above all, flexible catering service.”

As further investment into its healthcare offering, Catering Academy has been forging strong sector partnerships with a number of industry professional bodies such as the NACC, NAPA and AGE UK, and is currently enrolling team members into a number of care initiatives.
