Armourcoat’s latest plaster wall finish has been used to great effect at a new cycle café and shop in Tunbridge Wells.
The Velo House is a new concept bike shop stocking a tailored range of bikes and equipment, and featuring a state-of-the-art fitting system. The ground floor licensed café is a space to relax and plan routes over a pre-ride coffee. Owner Olly Stevens, working with interior designers SGS Design and Kiwi & Pom, specified the ‘Istria’ finish for the feature wall. Selected in a light grey colour, the design for the wall is a nod towards Roubaix’s famous velodrome, complete with track markings.
Named after the characteristic building stone of Venice, ‘Istria’ is made from a combination of slaked lime, recycled marble powder and special additives. Available in a contemporary range of 72 colours, the ‘Istria’ finish is full of ingrained surface movement and creates a matt or honed stone appearance. Tonal variation and surface movement within the finish complements other natural materials including wood, stone and fabric.
