Steak Slayers required for St George’s Day

By James Russell: Steak Slayers required for St George’s Day

April 8, 2014

This St George’s Day (Wednesday 23 April) The Jugged Hare (Barbican) is inviting diners to follow in the dragon-slaying patron saint’s footsteps by slaying a beast of their own…the Jugged Hare beef feast!

This year, St George’s Day falls in British Beef Week, making it the perfect excuse for brave (and hungry) knights to join together and slay a delicious meaty banquet at the popular Barbican gastropub.

Created for four people to share, the feast of 45-day-aged prime cuts from Lake District Farmers includes:

  • The Cumbrian Axe – 1.4kg, sirloin steak on the bone
  • The King Jacob – 2kg slow braised short rib
  • The Dumbbell – 1.6kg pot roast shin

All served to the table with roast bone marrow, greens, truffled mashed potato, sautéed wild mushrooms, braised red cabbage, hand cut chips, Béarnaise, green peppercorn sauce and braising juices (costing £70pp).

Celebrate all that is British and beefy at The Jugged Hare.
