The Manchester Evening News reports that their respective reservations systems went into meltdown after Manchester House and The French featured on BBC2 documentary Restaurant Wars on Monday night!
As a result of the BBC documentary about the opening of Manchester House and The French airing on Monday night, ‘Restaurant Wars’ became ‘Restaurant Wins’ as both of their booking systems collapsed under the volume of viewers deciding to check out the food for themselves.
The documentary – sub-titled The Battle for Manchester – follows acclaimed chefs Simon Rogan and Aiden Byrne as they both bid to bring Michelin Star dining to the city.
Systems down – but bookings soar
Manchester House reported its online booking system crashed due to demand from hungry punters and was forced to take to Twitter to provide an email address for reservations while they worked to recover their system.
The French had a similar situation: phone lines jammed with diners trying to book – but they’ve still achieved a staggering 500 per cent increase in bookings!
Both venues stress there is still “good availability” on weekdays and evenings, though weekend availability will be difficult for the next months.
Both venues are bracing themselves – and their systems – for the second episode on Monday 21 April…
