Following an extensive refurbishment, Pitcher & Piano in Derby is set to re-open its doors to the public unveiling a brand new look in late March.
Designed by BGW Concorde, the 108-cover modern bar has been stripped-back to achieve an industrial feel throughout, softened with pops of decorative colour. A cosy fireplace on entrance creates a warm and inviting atmosphere in which to eat, drink and socialise.

From the flooring and the fabrics through to the new fixtures and fittings, the aim was to give the venue a much lighter interior with the use of different textures and unique detailing within the design. The floor has been given a light oak finish and the raised seating area has been re-configured to define two distinctive levels. An eclectic mix of furniture includes cast iron based traditional style tables with a pastel blue finish, reclaimed floorboard table tops, bright yellow base stools with leather seat pads, timber dining chairs with turquoise coloured balloon backs and cosy deep buttoned crushed velvet sofas.
The large alfresco area (above) is complete with festoon lighting, colourful seating and new planting in anticipation of the warmer months ahead.
From breakfast, brunch and lunch right through to dinner, Sunday roasts and a kids menu, emphasis is placed on fresh, seasonal ingredients to produce classic much-loved dishes. Firm favourites will include tried-and-trusted steaks, homemade burgers in brioche buns and fish finger butties, whilst a rotating ‘Food We Love At The Moment’ section will highlight culinary trends from chilli cheese dogs and spicy fried buttermilk chicken through to BBQ pulled pork burritos.
The refurbishment has also made an impact at the bar with a new real ale display. In addition to a wide selection of beers and ciders on offer, a collection of classic and sharing cocktails and a well-sourced wine and Champagne list sits alongside premium spirits and non-alcoholic options.
