The turquoise carpet has been rolled out and Motel One Edinburgh-Princes welcomed tothe Edinburgh hospitality arena, newly opened to put a spring in the step and to provide stylish accommodation from as little as £69 per night.
Located just off Princes Street, the new 140 bedroom hotel is within easy walking distance of all the major city attractions including the National Gallery of Scotland, Royal Museum and Edinburgh Castle.
Budget doesn’t mean boring in Motel One’s case where each hotel has its own individual style to reflect the surrounding environment, city heritage and of course in this case the regal name sake. In this case, Motel One Edinburgh-Princes‘ One Lounge has a distinctive royal theme with a contemporary twist, featuring a long table with throne inspired chairs.
Regal theme
The furniture has been designed by renowned French manufacturer Henryot & Cie and signature touches include; nostalgic boudoir armchairs with fringing, playful lampshades on the wall, while the breakfast area adorned with pictures of previous heirs to the UK throne completes the look.
In addition to the regal theme, the hotel remains true to the Motel One brand design, and boasts the most recognisable feature, the infamously iconic Motel One turquoise Arne Jacobsen egg chair – a comfy and stylish symbol of Motel One’s fun and edgy side.
Lighting up the hotel there is also the distinctive ARCO lamp by Achille Castiglioni as well as fixtures from Tom Dixon, Moooi or Ingo Maurer, all offering a functional elegance.
A growing portfolio
The thriving chain currently has 48 hotels in Germany, Austria and UK with around 10,900 rooms. Its goal is to grow its portfolio to 74 hotels and 18,000 rooms by 2016 – no easy feat but an achievable one. The opening of Edinburgh-Princes marks the start of a whole string of new openings in 2014. These include; Berlin, Bremen, Brussels, Cologne, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Vienna and most notably the first opening in London.
