One of the oldest coffee companies in the world, Julius Meinl has just launched in the UK and was making itself visible to tens of thousands at last week’s London Coffee Festival where it was showcasing its finest selections in Austrian coffee.
UK consumers and merchants have long been aware of the high reputation of the Viennese coffee house as an institution, as well as the quality of its coffee, but for those not lucky enough to have travelled to Vienna, this was their first opportunity to experience the unique flavours and artistry that is archetypal of the Viennese coffee house.
Having sampled the coffee, H&C News is confident that Julius Meinl will attract the interest of the rapidly growing and increasingly sophisticated UK coffee market. Although not yet widely available, it was clear from one highly satisfied customer in London, serving 400-500 coffees every day, that both he and his customers had been delighted by the ‘experience’ provided by Julius Meinl.
Serving 40,000 business customers around the world
A family business with over 150 years of knowledge and expertise within the coffee making industry, Julius Meinl offers premium coffee in over 70 international markets.
As one of the first professional roasters in Europe and through constant innovation, Julius Meinl has built a unique and highly successful coffee culture and now serves over 40,000 business customers around the world.
Offering a selection of unique blends, and using different roasting temperatures and recipes, Julius Meinl aims to tap into an untouched marketplace, offering a premium and aspirational product to appeal to more practised coffee drinkers within the UK. Julius Meinl will be supplying the finest selections of Austrian coffee to restaurants, coffee houses, bars and hotels intent on offering their customers a superior standard of coffee.
Moving on from ‘grab and go’
The company sees its mission as encouraging British coffee drinkers to depart from the fast-paced ‘take-away’ coffee drinking culture seen in all our high streets, reconnecting with the poetic qualities of day to day life and taking a moment out of busy lives to be inspired and once again enjoy the experience of drinking a cup of coffee.
Julius Meinl believes that it will make Viennese coffee widely accessible to the British public for the first time in history, and bring unique characteristics such as premium taste, artistry and pleasure back to British coffee trading.
Bringing Viennese coffee house culture to Britain
Marcel Löffler, CEO of Julius Meinl Industry-Holding comments:
“For years, British coffee drinkers have adapted to a fast paced, grab and go mentality, which has limited the enjoyment of coffee drinking. This has been a huge detriment to the art and pleasurable quality essential to the coffee drinking experience.
“The premium quality of our product and the messages at the foundation of the Julius Meinl brand offer something that simply does not currently exist in the UK marketplace. Our primary goal is to re-establish the enjoyment of the coffee making and drinking processes and to introduce a unique product and experience to the UK market. Importantly, we are bringing the Viennese coffee house culture to Britain.”
Important gap in the market
And Gennaro Aniello, Managing Director for the UK and Western Europe, Julius Meinl UK Ltd adds:
“With a selection of light, medium and dark roasts, blended from highland Arabica beans harvested in the world’s leading coffee growing areas, Julius Meinl showcases the finest that Viennese coffee making has to offer. With an important gap in the market for sophisticated and aspirational coffee products, we can’t wait to introduce the British public to our tradition, our taste and quality.”
