Fleurets has confirmed the sale of the Izaak Walton Hotel on behalf of Peter Blair and Richard Saville of business rescue and recovery consultants Begbies Traynor, Nottingham, selling in their capacity as Joint Liquidators of the owning company.
The Izaak Walton Hotel has been a popular destination for visitors to the Peak District National Park and as a wedding venue over many years until the failure of the owning company in May 2013, leaving debts of £1 million to unsecured creditors.
The hotel provides 40 individual en-suite guest bedrooms, two bars, a restaurant, function room, detached five-bedroom domestic living quarters, staff lodge and is set in grounds extending to over three acres. The hotel enjoys a picturesque and tranquil setting in Dovedale in the Peak Park and takes its name from the 17th Century author of “The Compleat Angler”. The hotel’s modern day links with fishing are assisted by its exclusive fishing rights to a stretch of the Staffordshire bank of the River Dove which flows nearby.
