Britain’s Best Takeaway: the Top 10

By James Russell: Britain’s Best Takeaway: the Top 10

April 7, 2014

Oline food ordering platform, hungryhouse has revealed the ten best takeaway restaurants in Britain, with an unassuming Lebanese restaurant in London’s Maida Vale, The Cedar (pictured below), taking the top spot.

The results use an algorithm developed to analyse data from over 9,000 restaurant partners and millions of customer reviews to rank Britain’s best takeaways. The tool analysed restaurant popularity, customer reviews, ratings and return rates – and The Cedar came out top, with consistent five-star ratings, top notch reviews, and the site’s highest return rate.

£2.2 billion sector

With the takeaway food industry currently valued at over £2.2 billion a year, takeaways are ingrained in the UK’s food culture. While takeaways may traditionally be associated with a sloppy Saturday night treat, the UK’s top takeaways are working hard to break away from the fast food stigma.

hungryhouse’s Top Takeaways are working with only the freshest and best ingredients and family recipes that have been passed down through generations, and produce food of a quality that matches some of the best dine-in restaurants.

Customers will not accept below par meals

Shane Lake, co-founder, hungryhouse.co.uk commented: “Customers now have so much choice when it comes to food ordering that they are no longer willing to accept below-par takeaway meals. We want to ensure the passion and quality of the nation’s best takeaways gets them the recognition they deserve.”

Sami Khoueiry, owner, The Cedar added: “I only accept the very highest quality. Whether it be from my ingredients or the staff I employ, I expect the food The Cedar serves to be good enough to feed myself and my own family. And I would only give my family the very best.”
