Ascot Racecourse has partnered with world-renowned tea connoisseur Henrietta Lovell, owner of Rare Tea Company and supplier for top restaurants including Noma in Copenhagen, Momofuku in New York and Claridge’s in London. Henrietta has created a bespoke blend of loose-leaf tea that will be exclusively available in selected restaurants and boxes, and to buy at Royal Ascot 2014 to celebrate the elegant British tradition of afternoon tea.
It will be the first time a bespoke Royal Ascot loose leaf blend has been served at the racecourse, and Henrietta Lovell said, “I’m delighted to be working with Ascot Racecourse to develop a bespoke blend with tea leaves handpicked from across the globe. The blend will allow guests to savour the exquisite flavour of a perfectly brewed cup of loose leaf tea that has been paired to match the cakes, scones and sandwiches that will be served alongside it.”
Perfectly balanced with the Royal Ascot Afternoon Tea menu
Ascot Racecourse’s Executive Chef, Steve Golding and his team have collaborated closely with Rare Tea Company to develop a Royal Ascot blend that is perfectly balanced with the new, superior Royal Ascot Afternoon Tea menu that will launch for 2014.
Executive Chef, Ascot Racecourse Steve Golding said, “We have invested many hours in researching afternoon tea served across the UK to develop what we believe is the very best Royal Ascot Afternoon Tea which captures the spectrum of quintessentially British flavours.
“The menu will include a range of five sandwiches, scones accompanied by a strawberry and champagne preserve and lemon curd from Highgrove Estate and cakes including a cassis and chocolate crown, a lemon Victoria top hat and cravat, a Peach Melba financier and a rhubarb and custard macaroon. We believe it compliments Henrietta’s bespoke Royal Ascot blend beautifully.”
Royal Ascot runs from 17 to 21 June 2014.
