TME announces major upgrade on MM7000 alarm thermometer

By James Russell: TME announces major upgrade on MM7000 alarm thermometer

March 13, 2014

A major software upgrade to TME’s MM7000 Bluetooth Barcode thermometer helps food manufacturers, retailers, and those in the catering and hospitality industries take early action on incorrect food temperature, to improve food safety, prevent waste and control costs.

What’s New?

Users can now programme all their instruments with high or low alarm values, giving them the tools they need to take instant action, rather than only receiving alerts after the event.

How does it work?

TME’s unique Bluetooth Barcode thermometer allows users to set their own critical alarm values indicating a Low and High alarm for every food item or appliance – such as a cold store or oven – being tested. The software links this alarm value with the unique barcode for the corresponding food item or appliance. When the user takes the temperature the device automatically scans the barcode, the MM7000 displays an instant visual signal indicating a Low or High alarm, so that remedial action can be quickly taken.

Food-safe and accurate

When used with TME’s Type ‘T’ Food Probes, the MM7000 offers a HACCP compliant measurement system giving ±0.5 °C accuracy.

The MM7000 upgrade has significant benefits for preventing waste and controlling costs

  • In supermarkets, it can be used as an early prompt to a failing cold store as well as tracking the actual temperature of every fresh or frozen food item on display.
  • For food manufacturers, the alarm feature can be used to recognise critical temperatures during all kinds of processing – including in-oven testing – making spoilt batches a thing of the past.
  • And in restaurants, chefs and caterers can respond far more quickly to potentially unsafe food temperatures when taking deliveries, regenerating meals or during cooking.

A more streamlined operation

For large businesses, programming multiple instruments is easy. The new software allows the user to compile a master file containing all critical alarm values relevant to their business, which can then be downloaded to all thermometers in use. This ensures that all staff comply with the same alarm values, helping to maintain standards across the whole organisation.

MD, Tom Sensier:  “The beauty of using Barcodes is the greater flexibility it allows. Users do not need to rely on scrolling through a series of pre-set alarm values.  Also barcodes can be easily applied to products or appliances or read from a printed ‘menu’.”
