Telford & Wrekin Council is now able to announce more details of the phased opening of the £250m Southwater development – which is transforming the skyline of the town centre, and is close to completion in the town centre.
Starting with Premier Inn
In April and May the first buildings to open will be the Premier Inn and the multi storey car park with space for over 600 cars.
The iconic gold-cladded Southwater One building – which includes a new library, the councils Town centre first point contact centre, café and restaurant as well as access to the Town Park – will be next to throw open its doors.
Bars and restaurants
The new 11 screen IMAX Cineworld and associated bars and restaurants including Pizza Express, Harvester, Chimichanga, Zizzi, Bella Italia, Nando’s and Wagamama will open in July and August.
It is expected that the public will be able to use Southwater One and its facilities from July onwards, with Telford & Wrekin Council’s second T-Party cultural extravaganza taking place on Saturday August 2 and marking the official launch of Southwater.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota said: “The aim of the Southwater development has always been to rejuvenate the town centre and create a vibrant night time economy. It is extremely exciting that we are now on the verge of the buildings being completed and fitted out and that we now have a likely schedule of openings.”
