The successful ramen bar Shoryu is set to open its third restaurant in Kingly Court, Soho.
With two existing restaurant sites a stone throw away in Denman Street and Regent Street, the natural progression for expansion was towards Kingly Court. The restaurant is set to open in April 2014
The Shoryu menu will consist of Tonkotsu and Ramen as well as a selection of gyoza and yakitori dishes, whilst the bar will serve sake based cocktails.
The 1300 sq. ft. former book exchange and art gallery has been transformed by Blenheim Design into an open kitchen restaurant and bar. Restaurant design agency, Blenheim Design, led by Design Director Maja Myall, has been chosen by Shoryu to create the restaurant’s interior.
Some traditional Japanese elements sit alongside unusual finishes. “We like to take bland building materials and use them in an eccentric way. For Shoryu we took the roofing material and filled it with rice before adding backlighting to create an exciting counter front,” comments Maja Myall.
The heart of this project lies in the functionality as well as the beauty of the space. Every inch is utilised without the overall comfort being compromised. Elements of Wood, Stone, Metal and Earth have been combined, whilst the lighting was carefully considered to create a careful transition from bright lunch time to a mellower evening mood. The result is a welcoming, casual yet fashionable food and bar environment.
Blenheim Design specialises in commercially viable Interior Architecture and Design for restaurants, leisure and retail. Existing clients are Giggling Squid Restaurants, Tonkotsu East, and the Yorkshire Meatball Company
