Gabi Clipp, Head of People
Drake & Morgan – which now operates seven design-led bars & restaurants across the City – has appointed Gabi Clipp as Head of People.
Gabi has been charged with heading up employment across the group’s portfolio following similar roles at an impressive roster of companies including Human Resources Manager at Nobu Restaurants in London, Ignite Group and D&D Restaurants.
Drafted in at Drake & Morgan to cover all aspects of employment within the group – from recruitment and training through to management and payroll – Gabi will offer a fully ‘hands-on’, supportive role to all employees. The move is part of Drake & Morgan’s ongoing ethos to invest in people, and Gabi will also oversee the extensive training and development schemes currently being put into place by the group.
Richard Underwood, General Manager, The Fable
Also newly-appointed within the Drake & Morgan group is Richard Underwood as General Manager at The Fable (pictured above).
Opened this February in Farringdon, The Fable is Drake & Morgan’s seventh bar and restaurant. It required a General Manager confident with running a busy city venue, and Richard’s previous experience as General Manager and then Operations Manager at Novus Leisure – responsible for the seven businesses under the Lewis & Clarke segment – will prove invaluable.
Richard also brings to the table more hands-on managerial experience at Paramount Restaurants, where he was General Manager at Opera Terrace, Southbank and incredibly demanding sites at both Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
Joe Belson, Bar Manager, The Fable
The final appointment at Drake & Morgan is Joe Belson, now Bar Manager at The Fable.
Spread across three floors, it is one of the group’s largest operations and required a Bar Manager who could hit the ground running. So when it came to recruiting for the position, it made sense to choose from within the Drake & Morgan family. Previously Duty Manager at The Drift, Joe spent a year familiarising himself with how Drake & Morgan venue worked before making his recent move to The Fable where he will head up cocktail development and innovation. Prior to the appointment, Joe also spent time in managerial roles at the Parlour Rooms, Brighton Music Hall and Ohso Social, running the bars, growing cocktail sales and overseeing menu refreshes.
