Dine Contract Catering acquires Quartet Catering

By James Russell: Dine Contract Catering acquires Quartet Catering

March 25, 2014

Fast-growing Dine Contract Catering has acquired Midlands-based business, Quartet Catering, adding 13 sites to its current national portfolio.

Quartet has been operating in B & I, turning over £1.8 million in 2013 with a 60 strong workforce across its sites.  The current management will remain in place, and the Quartet branding will stay for the foreseeable future.  Staff at all sites will transfer under TUPE and continue to operate as usual.

They will, however, be absorbed into the ‘Eat Well, Live Well, Work Well’ philosophy of Dine, which will entitle all employees operating under the Dine Contract Catering banner the right to progressive, bespoke training and to participate in all nutrition and wellbeing programmes, which have made the company distinct for over a decade. Quartet’s Clients will also see the value of this employee welfare programme for their own employees through the catering facilities.

Strong synergies

Speaking about the acquisition, Ian Cartwright, Managing Director of Dine Contract Catering, said:

“Quartet Catering’s portfolio in B & I has strong synergies to our own.  The acquisition will give Quartet’s customers and staff some significant benefits in line with our operating ethos including the implementation of our health and wellness programme to help drive awareness of the value of employees making informed choices across their eating habits.   We will also be introducing personalised training programmes for all staff, to drive motivation, progression and opportunity”.

170 sites

Dine Contract Catering has nearly 170 sites including some of the largest and most prestigious workforce sites in the UK.  It employs 950 staff across its national client base, and has a growing reputation for leading the agenda across health and wellness, staff development and social capital (all its employees have individual training programmes customised to meet their own objectives and aspirations), whilst delivering responsible and valued solutions to the B & I, Care and Further Education Sectors
