Amadeus has won a five year contract worth £5M to manage the catering and event business for Riverside, Stratford Upon Avon. This continues the run of new business wins, secured by Amadeus in the last ten months, including Cadbury World, Camden Council, the Library of Birmingham and Birmingham Town Hall – worth a total of £16M.
Riverside is the largest wooden structure in Europe and has been purpose built to offer a restaurant, bar, and conference and event facilities in a unique location, all of which will be managed by the Amadeus team.
The contract was secured by Amadeus’ Sales Director Chris Reynolds, he said: “From the moment the deal was agreed between Nic and I we have worked in partnership, utilising Nic’s business acumen and Amadeus’ extensive experience in mobilising venues and event management to bring this exciting project to life. The whole team is really looking forward to the opening next month and to maximising the potential of this amazing new venue.”
Stunning setting – with green credentials
Riverside boasts a stunning setting on the banks of the River Avon and has been built on stilts to counter the risk of flooding. Riverside is a low carbon emission building and is constructed predominantly from Russian Spruce, Cedar wood and Zinc, due to their green credentials and hardwearing nature. This ties in nicely with Amadeus’ own green priorities – British suppliers and sustainability will play a big part in the menu offering.
Riverside is well equipped for conference and team building exercises with private balconies and break-out space, whilst the beautiful setting makes it a fairy-tale location for weddings.
Managing Director of Amadeus Kevin Watson said, “Riverside is a unique venue in a magnificent location. We are really looking forward to welcoming local residents and businesses, and also to maximising Riverside’s commercial success.”
Owner Nic Allen said: “This venue has been on the drawing board for over 10 years and now it’s time to launch it to our customers. In my eyes the relationship with Amadeus is not just a normal contract but an exciting partnership, getting Amadeus involved early on in the project has been the key to getting this iconic building ready and prepared for the launch in March.”
