East Midlands Airport unveils Castle Rock Taproom and food court

By James Russell: East Midlands Airport unveils Castle Rock Taproom and food court

February 24, 2014

East Midlands Airport has its new food court within the terminal building. Housing three new catering outlets, the new area is set to see over 77,000 passengers during the half term holiday alone and marks the completion of the second phase of its £12 million terminal redevelopment.

The new food court offers a mixture of food and beverage products through outlets Castle Rock Taproom and Kitchen, Burger King and Flat White.

The new catering outlets are operated by HMS Host Corporation, owned by Autogrill S.P.A, a world leader in operating food and beverage concessions in airports, and all boast modern design, a relaxing environment and a great range of food and drink products.

Michiel Reuvers, Sr. Director Business Development said: “As a global airport restaurateur, we are very excited to bring these new restaurants to East Midlands Airport. Both Castle Rock Taproom and Flat White are great new concepts and with Burger King we are sure we will further delight the appetite of the passengers.”

Already operating the Pork & Pickle English Delicatessen and coffee shop Flat White, HMS Host have provided a variety of branded concepts, whilst bringing the region’s heritage and produce closer to the 4.2million people who travel through the airport.

Castle Rock Taproom and Kitchen

New to the airport is the first Castle Rock Taproom and Kitchen, a unique bar concept which celebrates Nottingham-based Castle Rock Brewery and offers a wide selection of locally produced food and drinks.

Colin Wilde, Managing Director Castle Rock Brewery said: “For us to see our locally brewed Harvest Pale on sale in the departure area at East Midlands Airport, the region’s leading international venue, gives us a feeling of great pride. Autogrill’s determination to involve a local supplier such as Castle Rock gives UK and East Midlands passengers a chance to enjoy that last bit of home before flying away. More importantly, perhaps, it gives our international visitors a reminder of all that is good about East Midlands food and drink giving them an incentive to return.”
