Compass Group UK & Ireland is celebrating after hooking the Best Multiple Foodservice Operator Award at the National Fish and Chip Awards. Nominated among six finalists including Sainsbury’s and BHS, the best-selling dish at over 170 Tesco cafés was recognised with the accolade during a gala event in London on Wednesday 22 January 2014.
Compass’ Instore team serves over 280,000 portions of fish and chips a year across the UK in Tesco cafés. It was recognised for its focus on quality and customer service, hand-battered fish, dedication to displaying nutritional information, the very best kitchen practices, and mystery shopper programme
which ensures standards remain consistently high.
Oliver Devine, Head of Marketing for the Instore division of Compass Group UK & Ireland said, “We are ecstatic to have won this award, it’s a brilliant recognition of the food we serve and our team’s dedication and expertise. Our fish and chips are a firm favourite with our customers, accounting for almost a quarter of our total meal sales at Tesco cafés. This honour will spur us on to keep looking for ways to improve our fish and chips and ensure that the classic dish remains our customers’ favourite choice.”
Organised by Seafish (the levy body representing the UK seafood industry), the awards recognise businesses for their food quality, marketing initiatives, training policies and commercial awareness.
