On Monday 3 March 2014, Princess Victoria, West London will host the ‘Princess Victoria Pork Pie Off’, in conjunction with global charity, Action Against Hunger, to celebrate British Pie Week 2014.
Chefs from restaurants and pubs across Britain have been invited to demonstrate their cooking prowess by competing with their interpretation of the quintessential British classic, the ‘Pork Pie’. Princess Victoria is inviting the public to join them in celebrating this event from 7pm-9pm, for a tasting and to witness the crowning of London’s best Pork Pie.
Chefs and Judges
Confirmed chefs for the Princess Victoria Pork Pie Off include Matt Reuther (Princess Victoria), Peter Weeden (Newman Street Tavern), Dom Chapman (The Royal Oak, Parley Street), and TV’s Andy Bates (‘The Pie Man’). Final judging will be cast by restaurant critics, Joe Warwick and Tom Parker Bowles together with Christine Hayes, editor of one of the UK’s leading food magazines, Olive. News and updates will be tweeted from @PVwestlondon #PVPorkPieOff.
Public participation
Kicking off at 7pm, guests will be encouraged to circulate the dining room and enjoy tasting portions of the pies from the twenty participating guest chefs, washed down with complimentary craft beer from local award winning brewers, Portobello Beer. The public will be asked to score each pie out of 5, on a scoring card provided, judging on taste and texture. Final judging will then be cast and the winning pie will be announced at 9pm.
