The Perfect Finish to the Perfect Meal – Why Coffee can Complete Your Dining Experience

By James Russell: The Perfect Finish to the Perfect Meal – Why Coffee can Complete Your Dining Experience

January 21, 2014

Just like a great novel, a truly fantastic meal needs the perfect ending, complementing what has led up to it while adding a fresh and interesting twist.

Although having a dessert or a glass of wine are popular ways to end an evening’s dining experience, at the drinks machine specialists Coffee Solutions they don’t believe you can beat a great cup of coffee as a way to complete a meal – but what kinds of coffee are suitable for what kinds of food?

Breakfast

The coffee you start the day with should provide you with that kick start you need, though please note that coffee alone should never be a replacement for your breakfast.

Cappuccinos are perfect as they provide the energy boost of an espresso without the strong flavour that could be a little overwhelming first thing in the morning.

As a general rule though, you want to pair sweet breakfasts with blends that have higher-fruit notes, savoury breakfasts with coffees that have a heavier body and lighter breakfasts with something smooth that isn’t going to overpower the food.

Lunchtime

For the second meal of the day you will again want to go for a blend that can provide another energy kick without nullifying the lighter flavours of a lunch time meal.

If you’re having a soup or salad then a lighter, drier coffee would be the best choice, for example a macchiato, again providing the caffeine hit of an espresso marked with a little milk to make it easier on the palette.

An Evening Meal

As always, the perfect coffee to have with an evening meal depends on what you’re eating, but your typical meat and potatoes is matched perfectly by the smoky hints of a Sumatran coffee, which does a fantastic job of bringing out all of those savoury notes.

Chinese and Indian cuisine however is complemented perfectly by Ethiopian coffee believe it or not, while the Ethiopian Harar coffee bean variety is particularly suitable for grilled chicken dishes.

Can You Really Get a Great Coffee from a Machine?

A lot of people believe that the only way to get a great cup of coffee is to make it from scratch yourself, and that although machines can produce a decent imitation, it is never the same as the real thing. Well at Coffee Solutions they beg to differ, and believe that not only can their first-class bean-to-cup machines create coffee as good as freshly ground, but that it is also far quicker and easier to do so.

A great coffee machine is also capable of making all kinds of different varieties of our favourite drink, all of which are accessible at the touch of a button.

So if you still believe that bean-to-cup machines can’t provide a refreshment that stands up against freshly made products, why not take a second look?
