The Cranleigh Boutique has announced it has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Social Media’ category at the prestigious ‘Travel Marketing Awards’, due to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 20th March. Now in its sixth year, The Travel Marketing Awards has evolved into one of the most credible events in the travel industry calendar and is the only travel industry event of its kind. Created to recognise marketing excellence in the travel industry, the occasion is organised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Travel Industry Group (CIMTIG).
The Cranleigh boutique, based in Bowness-on-Windermere, has become infamous across the North West for its outstanding Facebook campaign, amassing more than 83,000 ‘likes’ in a one year period – more than The Dorchester, The Savoy and The Ritz – combined, and scooped the award in the ‘Best Use of Social Media’ category at the National Entrepreneur Awards in September 2013. They also won the award in the ‘Tourism and Hospitality’ category of the CN Business Awards in October and were runners up for ‘Hotel of the Year 2013’, in the Westmorland Gazette Business and Tourism Awards.
“We are stunned to have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Social Media’ Category at the Travel Marketing Awards,” said owner Stephen Hargreaves. “This is an esteemed national event and with the quality of major UK companies entering, we honestly didn’t believe we would be nominated. Being recognised in the ‘Best Use of Social Media’ category is really important for us. We have worked particularly hard in fully embracing this medium and have achieved extraordinary results. Once again, we are thrilled that the spotlight is being shone on the Lake District on a national level, in demonstrating how social media can be used successfully in promoting small businesses.”
