The Evening Standard reports that the 300 year old Cross Keys in Chelsea, London has been saved from development into a luxury house (change of use was not permitted by the council) and is to re-open. The pub closed in 2012 and was subsequently occupied by squatters.
The pub is located on Cheyne Walk near the Embankment and has served many distinguished patrons over the years – from Bob Marley to Agatha Christie.
The freehold has been sold to Parsons Green Land for £3.9 million and it is understood that the pub will be renovated on the ground and lower floors, whilst the upper floors are turned into accommodation.
