Sudbury House Hotel welcomes Chef Andrew Scott

By James Russell: Sudbury House Hotel welcomes Chef Andrew Scott

December 3, 2013

Sudbury House Hotel announces the appointment of Andrew Scott as Executive Head Chef. Andrew joins having gained his first Michelin star in the 2014 guide at The Curlew Restaurant in East Sussex.

Sudbury House is currently going through an extensive refurbishment programme and is set to unveil a new fine dining restaurant early in 2014. Nesting on the edge of the Cotswolds in the charming market town of Faringdon, Oxfordshire, the 49 bedroom hotel includes an original Grade II* listed 18th century house which is set to become the new fine dining restaurant.

Overlooking the beautiful landscaped gardens and terrace the new restaurant has been designed to recreate the ambiance and elegance of its earlier heritage, serving food of the highest quality.

Prior to winning his Michelin star, Andrew Scott spent several years at Mallory Court Hotel, a Relais & Chateaux property with a Michelin star. Having started his career at Mallory Court Hotel as junior sous chef he progressed to L’Enclume in Cumbria and then to Lords of the Manor hotel, a Michelin star hotel in the Cotswolds and then returning to Mallory Court as head chef. Andrew’s style of cooking is modern British with classic foundations, a style developed from his passion for food using local foods with known provenance.

Says Ulrike le Roux, general manager at Sudbury House, “We are delighted to be welcoming Michelin star chef Andrew Scott. As Sudbury House enters a new chapter, Andrew will oversee the new exciting dining space. A great deal of thought has been put into the redesign of the facilities and we strongly believe that Sudbury House will offer an exceptionally unique style that will leave a lasting impression. Andrew completely swept us off our feet with his passion for first class, inspiring food and will be instrumental in our launch.”

Sudbury House is a sister property to award winning Llangoed Hall in Brecon, Wales who were awarded AA Hotel of the Year 2013/2014 and Restaurant of the Year at the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2014.
