Searcys for sale?

By James Russell: Searcys for sale?

November 25, 2013

Searcys, the well known upmarket catering company, is reported to be for sale at a price between £25 million and £30 million, advised by BDO.

Searcys operates in a number of high profile locations – amongst them the restaurant at the top of the iconic Gherkin tower, champagne bars at the One New Change shopping centre in the City and at St Pancras station, as well as both Westfield centres, and at Blenheim Palace.

The company is run by Richard Tear, Chairman and Doug Tetley, Chief Executive. They led a management buyout back in 2010 which returned the caterer to private ownership – after a brief period of ownership by Alternative Hotel Group (now known as the De Vere Group).

The company has been expanding its clients – it recently launched the Balcony Bar & Brasserie in Birmingham’s Selfridges building in the Bullring.
