Wirral-based Pickled Walnut has further expanded after securing the catering contract at one of Liverpool’s landmark buildings.
From the beginning of October, the region’s leading catering company has been managing all the hospitality including the café and events catering at The Florence Institute, known locally as ‘The Florrie’ in the Dingle.
Built in 1889, The Florrie is socially and architecturally unique and has an ethical role to play in the future as it had for thousands of people up until its closure in 1988. It re-opened in April last year after restoration and repair to the fire-damaged building, believed to be the oldest surviving boys club in the UK.
The new venture will see the creation of nine jobs and will enhance the Grade II listed Florrie as a heritage centre and community hub.
Jamie Anderson, Pickled Walnut brand director, said: “The Florrie is a social gem, lovingly restored to serve the South Liverpool community. We are delighted to be joining the team and plan to build a stand-alone business from The Florrie operating alongside our existing core business.
“We will be working with The Florrie to deliver a smooth and efficient operation that raises the standards of hospitality, improves customer satisfaction and compliments the day-to-day running of the venue, as well as creating local jobs.”
