Lobsters to ‘roll’ into Mayfair

By James Russell: Lobsters to ‘roll’ into Mayfair

November 18, 2013

Grosvenor Britain & Ireland (Grosvenor) has announced that Goodman Restaurant Group – famed for its eponymous London-based Burger & Lobster outfits – will launch a brand new restaurant concept on their Mayfair estate, to open in early 2014.

Lobster Roll Deli concept

Goodman’s new restaurant will be based on a unique Lobster Roll Deli concept – the first of its kind in the UK – serving delicious lobster rolls to eat in or takeaway, along with other menu highlights. Located at the ground and first floor levels in the largest of the five leisure units at 65 Duke Street, the lobster roll deli interior will have an American ‘look and feel’, in keeping with the style of food.

George Bukhov, Director of Goodman Restaurant Group, comments: “Historically, this area was a busy food and drink destination, and we want to restore the site to its former glory by bringing something completely new and unique.”

Duke Street

Duke Street is an attractive thoroughfare connecting the gardens of Grosvenor Square to the shops of Oxford Street which has benefitted from significant improvements over the past 18 months, including; upgrades to the public realm, newly developed apartments for rent and the recent re-launch of Brown Hart Gardens – an elevated public garden that re-opened to the public in June 2013 and features The Garden Café, operated by Benugo.

65 Duke Street is an 18th Century Queen Anne Regency style redbrick building that was redeveloped by Grosvenor and now comprises 16 residential apartments for rent and four retail units.

Next year Grosvenor will complete the construction of The Beaumont hotel, which will be the first hotel operated by Corbin + King. Due to open in summer 2014, the hotel will include the first inhabitable sculpture by Antony Gormley.
