Young’s has appointed MasterChef 2011 finalist Tom Whitaker to the position of Head Chef at the soon-to-be-relaunched White Hart, Barnes.
Tom will be heading up the kitchen team and creating the menu at the new destination-dining pub which opened on 9 October. The extensive refurbishment has added a first floor restaurant – The Terrace Kitchen – where Tom will be showcasing the creative flair and skill that saw him impress the judges on the acclaimed BBC television series. He has created a monthly-changing menu and will be curing his own meat and fish in the new on-site smokery.
Tom brings with him experience from some of London’s best restaurants including Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley and Fergus Henderson’s St John, as well as his own private dining company. After running a series of successful pop-ups including Porklife and The Day Boat Cooperative, he accepted The White Hart, Barnes position.
Young’s Operations Director Peter Taylor comments: “We are very excited that Tom has come on board for this project. His passion for seasonal, British food and for offering a quality dining experience is a vision we share at Young’s. Diners can expect great things from Tom’s menu, which will demonstrate the creativity and skill that saw him through to the MasterChef final.”
