Concierge at The Royal Horseguards wins MVP London Concierge of the Year Award

By James Russell: Concierge at The Royal Horseguards wins MVP London Concierge of the Year Award

October 14, 2013

Richard Williams, the esteemed concierge at London’s Royal Horseguards Hotel, has been awarded the prestigious MVP London Concierge of the Year Award from respected industry body Society of the Golden Keys.

The 9th Annual MVP Concierge of the Year Awards ceremony took place this week at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge where the winners of both the London award and the Regional award were announced. Earlier in the year, entrants had to be nominated by the General Manager of their hotels with a description about what made their concierge service so deserving, before a panel of judges from the industry selected the finalists.

Thriving off making a difference for guests

Richard Williams, The Royal Horseguards hotel’s Concierge commented on the award:

“It’s a very humbling moment for me to be named as the next person to receive the best London Concierge Award! I thrive off making a difference to our guests’ stay and enjoy the very first moment of meeting them as first impressions count and this can even lead to a long term friendship. I’m lucky that my team at the Royal Horseguards Hotel are so enthusiastic, inspiring and gifted, making it easier for us to go out of our way.

“One example was when I had to rush out and buy a packet of M&Ms for Mariah Carey when she stayed with us!  I wouldn’t change my role for any other job in the world, I love what I do and it makes me feel proud and valued when I can make a difference to our guests’ stay. This award recognition will only drive us forward.”

Offering guests a high level of service

The Royal Horseguards has always prided itself on offering guests a high level of service and this is set to further improve when the hotel is renovated and becomes Clermont London in 2014. Clermont is the new luxury hotel and private residences brand announced in October 2013 by glh, the London-based global hotel subsidiary of the Singapore-listed GuocoLeisure Group. First in the portfolio will be Clermont London in 2014 followed by Clermont Singapore and Clermont Kuala Lumpur set to both open in 2016. The Clermont brand aims to redefine luxury, providing guests with unparalleled technological services as well as efficient, truly personalised service.
