Building magazine reports that the luxury Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard is now unlikely to open in 2013, after considerable delays to its fit-out.
In fact, Shangri-La has recently replaced the contractor, appointing Chorus Group to the £40 million project just this week.
The opening had already been pushed back to the final quarter of 2013, but further delay to early 2014 now looks inevitable: it is essential that the highest standards of fit-out and finishes be achieved on such a high profile project.
The five-star hotel is situated between floors 34 and 52 of the Shard with the spectacular external views that can be expected: no doubt the interiors will be equally stunning in due course.
