The London Evening Standard’s ‘Most influential people 2013: Tastemakers, Foodies’, published on 19 September, makes fascinating reading – as you’d expect – and readers will certainly want to agree, disagree and nominate their own choices!
As London has been expanding its range of food and drink as never before over recent years, so the list reflects the diversity of choice, ranging from Michelin-starred chefs (though not always the names you’d expect), through to entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, critics, twitter stars, charcutiers, jam-makers, chocolatiers….and more.
New this year
Of the 29 entries (featuring 37 people), no fewer than 11 are new entries for this year, including : Gizzi Erskine, Chef and writer; Amelia Rope, Chocolatier; Dom Cools-Lartigue, Street Feast, founder; Richard Johnson, British Street Food Awards, founder; Jenny Dawson, Jam-maker; and Paul Winch-Furness, Photographer.
The Standard rightly comments that ‘London’s food is as eclectic a melting-pot as its population’, which makes for a fascinating list.
