KFC UK & Ireland has appointed David Timm as its new Vice President of Marketing. David joins from KFC Africa, where he was Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing advertising, new product development, sponsorship and corporate responsibility for 770 restaurants across 14 markets, including KFC South Africa.
David will begin his role at the start of December, and will replace Jennelle Tilling, who has been promoted to the role of Chief Marketing Officer for Yum! Restaurants International, based in Dallas. Both moves reflect the Yum! leadership philosophy of global mobility across its portfolio of brands, moving the brightest and the best around the world to meet the on-going challenges of a growing global business.
Timm, a South African, has spent the last three years with KFC Africa, helping to drive three consecutive years of same store growth in South Africa’s 700 restaurants and the development of the brand in 13 other African countries.
David was also responsible for the multi-award ‘Journey of Hope’ campaign in South Africa, awarded campaign of the year at the 2013 South Africa PRISM awards, and also winning Yum!’s first ever Cannes Lion. As a marketing innovator, David has been instrumental in KFC recently been named in the top three most admired brands in South Africa.

David has twenty years’ experience in marketing and advertising, having worked for SAB Miller, Bromor Foods and Leo Burnett. He graduated from the University of KwaZulu Natal in his native South Africa, and holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School.
