Cricket club bowled over with the partnership of CHR and Meiko

By James Russell: Cricket club bowled over with the partnership of CHR and Meiko

September 12, 2013

A new line-up for Lancashire County Cricket Club is set to deliver match winning results, on and off the pitch, in the bars, restaurants, conferencing, banqueting…

Best seats in the house; behind the bowlers arm, inside the 1864 Suite at LCCC.

Supporting the catering and bar operations at this famous club are some 12 front loading glass washers, 10 pass-through dishwashing machines, 2 rack transport machines and a continuous conveyor flight dishwasher. An additional front loading utensil washer and numerous food waste disposal units complete the line-up.

“During a test match we can serve more than 9,000 meals in four days. I am more than happy with the choice of Meiko for dishwashing,” says Executive Head Chef Nic Ashurst.

A massive redevelopment of the catering at Lancashire County Cricket Club was completed mid-June to cater for a heavy sporting summer including the return of international cricket to the ground for the England V Australia Ashes series.

Meiko UK Partner Distributor CHR Equipment has worked with the Club over the past 17 years, totally transforming the food service operation.

Most recently, eleven of Meiko’s finest players were included in the redesign and refit of the main kitchens in the Pavilion, which includes the Members Lounge and the Long Room that overlooks the famous pitch and the 160-cover 1864 Suite situated behind the bowler’s arm.

Three years ago CHR also completed kitchen facilities at The Point, LCCC’s colourful bright red £12M conference and events centre, which can cater for up to 1,000 people for a full sit-down lunch or dinner function.

“CHR has worked closely with us to re-design the kitchens to help us improve the speed of service and quality of our food by using latest equipment technology. As a result we have dramatically reduced staff costs while at the same time greatly increasing the numbers we feed,” adds Ashurst.

CHR’s Managing Director Ron Neville explained that Meiko was the obvious choice for glass and dishwashing, bearing in mind the Club’s environmental stance, alongside more practical considerations of lowering running costs, achieving top efficiency and  cleaning, and reliable after sales service and training.

“CHR has dealt with Meiko for many years, ever since we started up the business. It is a good quality product and a good quality company. We like Meiko because they are easy to deal with. If there is a problem all we have to do is pick up the phone and Meiko will resolve it quickly and with no fuss or bother.”
