Creative Taste, the cultural and heritage division of caterer Creativevents, has won the competitive tender for a five year contract to provide catering services for Greenwich Park, the oldest enclosed Royal Park, which dates back to 1427.
Greenwich Park hosts the Prime Meridian Line and Royal Observatory as well as being part of the Greenwich Maritime World Heritage Site which is home to The National Maritime Museum and Old Royal Naval College. The contract, worth an estimated £7m, will see Creative Taste operate the Pavilion Cafe, the White House Bakery, a Coffee & Bakehouse and two kiosks within Greenwich Park from 7 November 2013.
New plans for the Pavilion Cafe include a complete internal make-over to make the space more attractive with improved lighting and seating. The focus will be on eye-catching abundant displays of delicious food, changing according to the time of day and the needs of the guests.
Millions of Londoners and tourists
“Every year millions of Londoners and tourists visit Greenwich Park and we are hugely excited about the prospect of being able to show them British catering and local produce at its best,” declared Adrian Willson, Managing Director. “Greenwich is used very regularly by locals (55% of local visitors come once a week to the park) and we want to offer them high quality food, quick service and a very warm welcome.
Understanding the heritage of the site
“Creative Taste were awarded the contract because they demonstrated a genuine understanding of the heritage of the site, and proposed design concepts which were sympathetic to the iconic Pavilion building and the listed St Mary’s Lodge,” said Graham Dear, Greenwich Park Manager. “In addition, they showed a great understanding of how our audiences change over the course of a day, and are keen to look after our local community users as well as our international visitors.”
