The Brakes Group not only supplies frozen, chilled and ambient food products but, through Brakes Catering Equipment, is also a major supplier to restaurants, bars, pubs, hotels and local authorities across the UK, working with many leading manufacturers and suppliers.
Over 35 of those catering equipment manufacturers and suppliers were on show at the inaugural Brakes Catering Equipment innovation day held on 17 September at Tottenham’s White Hart Lane stadium, including Rational, Metcalfe, Cambro, Gram, Fosters, Steelite, Churchill, Franke and Classeq.
Bringing buyers and sellers together
The event provided an opportunity for a wide range of light and capital equipment suppliers to engage with a select number of representatives from Brakes Catering Equipment’s key accounts, each of whom had been personally invited.
As always on these occasions, the flow of visitors varies through the day but, judging by the discussions and interest being shown by visitors, this was an event that customers were using to good effect to bring themselves up to speed on a wide range of equipment that they could – or perhaps should – be using in the near future. Certainly, H and C News found this event a useful opportunity to catch up with developments, meet new contacts and renew existing contacts.
Innovative products
“We are well aware that there are already lots of trade shows and so we wanted to make sure that the experience was worthwhile for all parties,” said Brakes Catering Equipment General Manager, Martin Hall. “To that end, we only invited suppliers with genuinely innovative products and in return we gave them the chance to meet some of our biggest customers, thereby giving everyone a real incentive to attend.
‘As well as being a great opportunity for our suppliers, it gave us an opportunity to demonstrate to our customers, of which Brakes has more than 30,000, that there is a lot more to our business than the supply of frozen, chilled and ambient food products, and that they can also come to us for everything from a teaspoon to a complete kitchen refurbishment,” he concluded.
