The Carlyle Group is reported to have signed a deal with Altrincham franchise company Sim Trava Pita that will bring Pita Pit to the UK. Sim Trava Pita is owned by Simon and Tracy Vardy and already operates 17 Costa Coffee stores under a franchise partnership with Whitbread.
Pita Pit was founded in Canada in 1995 and now has 430 branches in Canada, the USA, and around the world. It will be interesting to see how UK consumers respond to this further food offering in an already crowded and innovative sector.
The first Pita Pit will open in October at Piccadilly Place in Manchester (see design above) in a 1,614 sq ft outlet, and offer customers a wide selection of pita wraps – Meat Pitas, Veggie Pitas, Breakfast Pitas, Kids Pitas…
