As the owners of Harry Ramsden’s prepare to unveil details of their expansion plans, which will see a vastly increased presence across the UK for the world famous brand, Harry Ramsden’s has unveiled its stunning new look Bournemouth restaurant – which looks set to claim the title of ‘Biggest Fish and Chip Restaurant in the World’!
Details have already been sent to industry body, the National Federation of Fish Friers whose treasurer Andrew Crook, notes, “It definitely sounds like Harry Ramsden’s could be the new record holder.”
Seating 417 diners…
Following the £1m refurbishment, the restaurant which overlooks Bournemouth’s award winning beaches, can now seat an incredible 417 diners and lays claim to the record which was previously held by Sharpy’s, a 270 seater restaurant in Wigan.
The main restaurant can now hold 222 diners, with the Café offering seating for 75. And those who prefer to dine al fresco can choose from the 32 seats adjacent to the beach or the stunning outdoor Terrace area which can accommodate 88.
125 staff to service one million customers!
Harry Ramsden’s 125 staff in Bournemouth, including 50 new members of the team, are now gearing up to serve around 1,000,000 customers a year, with over 268 tonnes of chips, 90 tonnes of cod accompanied by 21 tonnes of mushy peas, 10 tonnes of tartare sauce and 8 tonnes of ketchup also expected to be sold annually.
Founded by the eponymous Yorkshire fish and chip operator in 1928, Harry Ramsden’s is world famous for its fish and chips and already holds the title of Britain’s longest established restaurant chain.
