The Preventive and Clinical Investigations Centre in Paris has revealed that tea and coffee drinkers have lower blood pressure than people who don’t drink them at all, and that people who drink around four cups a day also have lower heart rates.
Although much more research needs to be done in to understand and explain the benefits of tea and coffee drinking, the research findings are said to be statistically significant.
They are also at odds with some current advice. For example, the NHS recommends that, to reduce high blood pressure, you should drink no more than 4 cups a day.
The research into almost 200,000 men and women in France measured their blood pressure, across ages ranging from 16 to 95. Tea and coffee drinkers often proved to have better health.
Drinking tea and coffee also includes other benefits, such as the fluoride in tea being good for teeth, antioxidants that fight toxins, caffeine that raises the metabolic rate, and even vitamins and minerals that assist diet.
