Hampton by Hilton aims to double UK presence by 2015

By James Russell: Hampton by Hilton aims to double UK presence by 2015

June 10, 2013

Hilton Worldwide has unveiled plans to expand its award-winning Hampton by Hilton value brand with two new properties at Gatwick Airport and in Birmingham.  The announcement will see the brand double its presence in the UK by 2015 to 23 hotels, after entering the market in 2009.

Between them, the new hotels are receiving over £22.5 million investment. This announcement follows swiftly on from the opening of Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport, the brand’s 11th UK hotel, which has seen investment of a further £10 million and over 50 additional jobs.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice-president, development, Europe and Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said, “Hampton by Hilton’s continued UK growth is giving increasingly savvy consumers greater access to exceptional hotel experiences at highly competitive rates and in more locations.  With these latest hotels in Gatwick and Birmingham now under development, the strong momentum behind Hampton by Hilton means we are on track to double the current UK portfolio by 2015.”

Hampton by Hilton Birmingham City North has been signed under a management agreement with Birmingham Regeneration LLP.  On opening this summer, it will become the brand’s second hotel in the city, following the successful opening of Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Broad Street last year.  The newly built 109-guestroom property is located amid the city’s renowned Jewellery Quarter, and will appeal to both corporate guests and shoppers visiting the area.  The site lies close to Birmingham’s city centre.

Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport, North Terminal will enjoy a fantastic location, directly connected to the North Terminal of the world’s busiest single runway airport. Linked by the hotel’s own dedicated covered walkway passengers, will be able to check in within minutes of leaving reception. Under a franchise agreement with Shiva Hotels Limited, Longbridge House is being converted into a striking seven storey, 192 guestroom hotel offering unrivalled convenience to airport passengers.

Expected to open in early 2014, the property will also feature two meeting rooms and on-site parking, making it a prime location for business travellers as well as leisure guests seeking a stopover within metres from the airport terminal.  The hotel will complement the existing 821 guestroom Hilton London Gatwick Airport which is connected to the south Terminal.
