June 21, 2013

Starboard Hotels has appointed Paul Payne as general manager to run its latest project, HOAX Liverpool and Hopskotch Street Kitchen and Bar.

Situated opposite the world famous Cavern Club, HOAX Liverpool is the first of a new chain of luxury boutique hostel accommodation, and will open in July 2013.

With over twenty years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Paul will be responsible for the daily running of the hostel and will direct and manage the operational and financial performance of the new hostel.

268 bed five star hostel and Brooklyn-style bar and restaurant

The result of a joint venture between Starboard Hotels and Union Hanover, funded by BridgePoint Ventures and IPIN Global, the Liverpool hostel, based at the junction of Mathew Street and Stanley Street, is currently being converted into a thriving 268 bed space five star hostel and a trendy Brooklyn-style bar and restaurant.

Paul has worked with some of the most recognised names in the industry including, Whitbread PLC, where he acted as sales cluster manager for 17 Premier Inn Hotels in the Warrington and Wigan area. Most recently Paul acted as group revenue manager for Hatters Hostels UK, where he was responsible for the sales and revenue management strategy of four 3* Visit England Assessed properties with a bed stock of 865 beds.

On his appointment, Paul Payne says:

“I am very excited to be trusted with a project that will bring a fresh, vibrant and sociable alternative to Liverpool City and the North West. Offering street food, graffiti art and music all under one roof, and perfectly positioned in a dynamic venue right in the heart of Liverpool’s music hub, HOAX Liverpool will attract huge interest from international visitors, but also the younger local community, and overnighters from the UK.”
