Blackpool top place to visit for a ‘dirty weekend´!

By James Russell: Blackpool top place to visit for a ‘dirty weekend´!

June 17, 2013

According to new research from online hotel reservation service hotel.info – the result of analysing the hotel ratings of over two million guests worldwide to provide a league table of the cleanest and dirtiest hotel destinations –  if it’s a dirty weekend you’re after, then look no further than the Las Vegas of the north and the bright lights of Blackpool.

Brits don’t hesitate to tell tales on the state of their rooms: stained sheets, dusty tables and smoky smells were cited as the main gripes for guests, and it’s a case of beware of the coast as Blackpool, Brighton, Newport and Eastbourne all featured in the top 10 dirtiest UK hotel locations.

Conversely, the UK’s cleanest hotels can be found in the Berkshire village of Colnbrook, where sheets, towels, showers and staff are all presented beautifully and attention to detail is second-to-none.

Andreas Klug, Country Manager for the UK for hotel.info said: “It looks like Brits looking for a dirty weekend in every sense of the term should be heading to the north west. Blackpool’s popularity as a holiday destination saw a resurgence as the staycation trend took hold a couple of years back, and it seems that the seaside spot has some catching up to do.

“The hotel ratings section of the hotel.info site is a great platform for users to give honest and open feedback about their hotel experiences, and what’s more, it gives the hoteliers themselves a great opportunity to learn from and improve their services in direct correlation with customer insight.

“When looking internationally at major worldwide cities, Edinburgh led the way for the UK (49th), followed closely by Manchester (56th) and London (70th).”
